Description
The Federal Highway Administration, within the U.S. Department of Transportation, is soliciting applications for the FY 2026 Wildlife Crossings Pilot Program. The program will fund eligible construction and non-construction projects that improve traveler safety by reducing wildlife-vehicle collisions and improve terrestrial and aquatic habitat connectivity. Eligible applicants include state departments of transportation, metropolitan planning organizations, local governments, regional transportation authorities, transportation-related special districts or public authorities, Indian Tribes, Federal Land Management Agencies, and groups of eligible entities. Approximately $80 million is available through cost-reimbursable grants, with no minimum or maximum award amount. Applicants generally must provide a 20 percent non-Federal cost share, subject to statutory exceptions. Applications must include the mandatory WCPP Application Template, applicable Standard Form 424-series forms, the Grants.gov lobbying form, and any allowable supporting materials such as budgets, schedules, design plans, and other documents specified in the template. The application template requires project, budget, merit-criteria, readiness, and DOT-priority information.
