Description
The Department of the Air Force, specifically the 27th Special Operations Contracting Squadron, intends to sole source the acquisition of (20) SMASH 2000L Enhanced Fire Control Systems (FCS) for the M4 rifle, (2) 12-Month Sets of Spares for Overhaul/Line Maintenance based on 10 systems per set, and (1) 2-day training session for up to 15 trainees. The total estimated value is $239,368.00. This acquisition is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures as the estimated value is at or below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold. Market research conducted from June 11-16, 2026, determined that Smart Shooter Inc. is the only vendor capable of providing a dismounted Counter-UAS optic that meets the government's critical performance requirements. Specifically, the SMASH system possesses a unique Active Trigger-Intervention (fire-block mechanism) and Computer-Vision target tracking, which are essential for countering the increasing UAS threat by eliminating human reaction delay and significantly increasing the probability of hit.
