This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) from the Department of Health and Human Services aims to support the Tribal Undergraduate to Graduate Research Training and Leadership Experiences (TURTLE) program. The program's objective is to fund eligible American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribes, tribal colleges or universities, tribal health programs, or tribal organizations to cultivate a pipeline of scientists focused on AI/AN health and health disparities research. The initiative will provide support for phased awards to eligible AI/AN Tribal Entities. These awards will facilitate the development (UE5) and implementation (T34) of robust training and mentoring activities. The program targets individuals pursuing a bachelor's degree in a biomedically-relevant field at various institutions across the United States and its territories. The ultimate goal is to equip participants with the necessary technical, operational, and professional skills to conduct AI/AN health research in a culturally appropriate, ethically responsible, and rigorous manner, ultimately preparing them for careers in the biomedical research workforce.
