Description
The City of Columbia is soliciting bids for replacement of Bridge 9 on the MKT Trail over Flat Branch Creek. The work includes demolition of the existing bridge and construction and installation of a 105-foot-long, 11-foot-clear-width, single-span prefabricated steel truss pedestrian bridge on concrete end bents. The contractor must furnish and install the bridge, concrete deck, reinforcing steel, bearings, expansion-joint components, approach slabs, approach handrails, HP10x42 steel piles, pile points, rock blanket, geotextile fabric, aggregate trail base and surface, and related excavation, embankment, clearing, seeding, erosion control, traffic control, surveying, mobilization, and cleanup. The bridge manufacturer and installer must have at least five years of relevant experience. The intended bridge supplier must be identified with the bid; the supplier must be an approved or otherwise authorized manufacturer, have current AISC certification, use an in-house fabrication facility, and not be a broker. The project requires sealed bridge plans and calculations by a Missouri-registered professional engineer, shop drawings, structural steel and welding certifications, domestic-material certifications, prevailing-wage compliance, a bid bond of at least 5% of the proposal, and—if the project exceeds $50,000—performance and labor-and-material payment bonds each equal to 100% of the contract price. The contractor must complete the work within 180 calendar days after the Notice to Proceed.
