Description
This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) from the Department of Health and Human Services aims to support the Tribal Undergraduate to Graduate Research Training and Leadership Experiences (TURTLE) program. The program's objective is to fund eligible American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribes, tribal colleges or universities, tribal health programs, or tribal organizations to cultivate scientists focused on AI/AN health and health disparities research. Support will be provided for a phased award to develop (UE5) and implement (T32) training and mentoring activities for individuals pursuing a doctoral degree in a biomedical research field. The program seeks to equip participants with the necessary skills for culturally appropriate, ethically responsible, and rigorous AI/AN health research, ultimately preparing them for careers in the biomedical research workforce. Eligible applicants include Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (Other than Federally Recognized), Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs), and other eligible Tribal Entities as detailed in the funding announcement. Non-U.S. entities and foreign components of U.S. organizations are not eligible to apply.
