Description
The New York State Department of Transportation is conducting an information-gathering effort regarding the development and potential delivery of a complete roadway work zone safety training program. The anticipated program would include approximately 20 to 25 hours of materials across six training areas: development and design, implementation and operation, traffic flagger training, inspection and quality assurance, law enforcement, and automated work zone speed enforcement. Topics include work zone components, traffic control standards, personal protective equipment, flagging procedures, work zone setup and inspection, pedestrian accommodations, incident reporting, roadside safety, and certification examinations. NYSDOT is seeking information about vendors' ability to create curriculum materials such as videos, handouts, and certification exams, and to provide live in-person, live virtual, recorded virtual, interactive virtual, or self-paced online instruction. Respondents must address available delivery models, relevant experience, sample materials or online demonstrations, estimated development and delivery costs, and associated indirect costs. This is an RFI for planning purposes only; no contract or award will result from responses.
