Description
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is establishing a grant program to assist Tribal entities in Alaska with addressing contamination on lands conveyed under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). These lands may be contaminated from past activities such as fuel storage, power generation, waste handling, and mining, posing potential health concerns and impacting subsistence resources and economic activity. Eligible entities include Alaska Native regional and village corporations, federally recognized Tribes in Alaska, Alaska Native nonprofit associations, and inter-tribal consortia. Grants can be used for site assessment and remediation, as well as related community outreach and involvement. The program has an estimated total funding of $40,000,000, with individual awards ranging from $0 to $3,000,000. Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis as long as funds remain available.
