Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is soliciting bids for the application of pre-emergent and contact herbicides. The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, tools, materials (excluding the herbicides themselves), equipment, and travel necessary to spray approximately 1,200 acres of bare and landscaped areas within Caltrans rights-of-way. The purpose of this service is weed control, fire prevention, flood prevention, erosion control, and preservation of roadside vegetation. Bidders must possess a current and valid Qualified Applicator License (QAL) or Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) issued by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) and be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). The solicitation encourages participation from Small Businesses (SB) and Micro Businesses (MB), offering a preference for certified businesses or those committing to subcontracting at least 25% of their net price to SBs or MBs. A Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) participation incentive also applies. This is an Invitation for Bid (IFB) with a bid submission deadline of July 2, 2026. The estimated contract period is from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2029. Bids must be submitted via mail or hand-delivery to the Caltrans Division of Procurement and Contracts in Sacramento, California. Electronic bids will not be accepted.
