Description
Community Unit School District Number 1, serving Richland, Wayne, Jasper, Clay, and Lawrence Counties in Illinois, intends to issue General Obligation School Bonds. The district plans to sell up to $9,000,000 in bonds for the purpose of altering, repairing, and equipping school buildings and facilities, as well as improving school sites. Additionally, the district intends to issue up to $12,000,000 in bonds for the purpose of refunding outstanding obligations. The bonds will be secured by collections from the County School Facility Occupation Tax Law and corporate personal property replacement taxes in Illinois. If these revenues are insufficient, ad valorem property taxes will be used. A public hearing is scheduled for March 19, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Richland County High School, 1200 East Laurel Street, Olney, Illinois, to receive public comments on the proposal.
