Description
Federal Prison Industries, Inc., operating as UNICOR, is conducting market research for a potential five-year agreement covering various species of hardwood plywood and veneered particleboard panels used to manufacture office furniture components. The materials must be domestically produced and support UNICOR's flat-line finishing operations. The document identifies cherry/cherry three-ply panels with particleboard cores as examples, including multiple panel sizes and grades. Requirements include bookmatched plain-sliced veneer, specified dimensions and tolerances, presanding with 150-grit abrasive, compliance with HP-1, ANSI A208.1, and Federal Specification AA-T-00633, and specified mechanical properties. Shipments must include signed certificates of compliance referencing laboratory test data; nonconforming panels may be rejected and must be removed and replaced at the supplier's expense.
