Description
Natural Resources Canada is seeking a comprehensive analysis identifying five offshore markets or countries outside the United States and Canada with the strongest growth opportunities for Canadian softwood lumber. The work must assess end-use demand profiles, species, sizes and dimensions, comparisons with North American products, export volumes and time horizons, transportation costs, tariffs, phytosanitary requirements, and Canada's ability to compete in each market. The contractor must also evaluate Canadian sawmill machinery and estimate the capital investment, retooling or machinery upgrades, costs, and timelines needed to supply the identified markets. Deliverables include a detailed English-language report describing the methodology, findings, assumptions, market-specific considerations, and required investment, plus a presentation of the results to Natural Resources Canada and post-project availability for questions. Respondents must submit a statement of capabilities demonstrating extensive forest-industry economic-analysis experience, relevant Canadian wood-products diversification analyses, proprietary economic modeling and forecasting capabilities, global market expertise, and sawmill product and technology expertise.
