The U.S. Department of Energy is offering a technology licensing opportunity for GigaPic-3D, a modular camera platform that combines multiple image sensors to capture gigapixel images and three-dimensional views in a single exposure. Its light-field imaging records both light intensity and direction, enabling post-capture refocusing, direct image reconstruction, and elimination of multi-image stitching and alignment. The platform can be configured for visible, ultraviolet, infrared, or X-ray imaging through different optical components, sensors, and radiation-conversion materials. Potential applications include scientific research, industrial inspection and machine vision, medical and biomedical imaging, environmental monitoring, and cultural-heritage digitization. The technology is identified as Technology Readiness Level 3, with reference LA-UR-26-28965 and U.S. Patent No. 12,574,655.
