Description
The Dorothy Dean Shelton Mathematics Scholarship is intended for an incoming freshman attending the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga who majors in mathematics. For an in-state student, the scholarship covers tuition, fees, books, room, and board. Renewal for the sophomore, junior, and senior years requires remaining a mathematics major, maintaining a 3.0 overall GPA and a 3.5 mathematics GPA, and making normal progress toward a mathematics degree. Applicants must submit the UTC Department of Mathematics Scholarship Application online, a brief essay of no more than two pages discussing their interest in a mathematics degree, two letters of recommendation with at least one from a recent mathematics teacher, ACT/SAT scores, high school transcripts, and evidence of four years of college-preparatory mathematics with at least a B average. The application deadline is March 15; all materials other than the online application must be mailed to the Scholarship Committee.
