Description
The grant supports New York State school districts and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) in creating or expanding dual-enrollment programs that allow high school students to earn college credit. Applicants must partner with at least one eligible New York State degree-granting college or university and submit a partnership agreement. For-profit institutions are not eligible partners, and economically disadvantaged students must incur no costs for college courses. Programs must address seven requirements covering program design, student support, outreach, representation of the student population, course subject areas, partnership agreements, and course parameters. Funding is anticipated at $9.1 million annually. Requested awards are capped per program year at $250,000 or $750,000 depending on the applicant’s economically disadvantaged student enrollment, with a $4.6 million cap for New York City Public Schools. Payments include an initial payment in Year 1 and $90 per college credit earned in Program Years 2–5; later-year funding depends on legislative appropriations and timely annual data submissions.
