Secure European Critical Communication System for Civil Security
Original Solicitation Links
Description
This initiative by the European Commission, managed via Funds for Companies, aims to develop a secure, interoperable, and resilient European Union Critical Communication System (EUCCS) to enhance civil security communications. The project will focus on creating an integrated ecosystem for secure communication systems, advancing next-generation capabilities, and developing mission-critical devices and applications. Key areas include supporting interoperability through 3GPP Mission Critical Services (MCX) and open APIs, enhancing real-time communication for law enforcement and emergency responders, and integrating advanced technologies such as wearable sensors, haptics, and augmented reality. The initiative also emphasizes the implementation of post-quantum cryptography for secure authentication and data exchange, support for communication in areas without cellular infrastructure, and the promotion of inclusive and gender-sensitive solutions. Collaboration across agencies and pan-European efforts are encouraged, along with contributions to relevant standardisation processes. The goal is to establish a unified communication infrastructure capable of supporting critical public safety and civil security operations across Europe, particularly in challenging environments.
