Description
The Military Sealift Command (MSC) is conducting market research to gather information on the price and availability of a U.S. flag, ocean-going certified tug for an open-ocean tow mission. The requirement involves towing berthing barge YRBM-32 from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, WA, between January 5th and January 23rd, 2026. The selected tug must be built in 1970 or later and have sufficient bollard pull to tow the barge at a minimum speed of six knots. The tug must have internet and satellite phone capability. The contractor will be responsible for providing a comprehensive towing package, including steady-state tow line tension calculations, speeds of advance, weather conditions and limits, and a sketch of the tow configuration. An independent marine surveyor will be required to perform detailed technical evaluations and oversight.
