Description
The City of Hallowell seeks a contractor to dismantle, restore, and reassemble a historic granite quarry crane exhibit at Granite City Park. The work includes removing or repurposing existing wood and metal components; fabricating, if necessary, a new approximately 37-foot timber mast and 36-foot inclined wooden boom; disposing of unused materials; reusing or replacing stressed rigging and metal components in kind; and securely reassembling the crane for non-operational historic representation and educational display. Proposals must address replacement timber options, including durability, expected longevity, maintenance, decay-resistant treatment, preservation coatings, costs, and the requirement that new timbers replicate the original hewn appearance, remain true after drying and acclimating, and be straight-grained. Work must protect existing park infrastructure and comply with local codes and applicable OSHA safety standards. Pricing must include labor, equipment, and materials. Bidders may propose all or part of the work with or without subcontractors and must provide three references for recently completed projects, applicable warranty information, and proof of general liability and workers' compensation coverage during the project term.
