Description
The New York State Office of Children and Family Services is soliciting competitive applications from established not-for-profit child care resource and referral agencies to establish Child Care Support Centers. Each center will administer a regional pool of qualified substitute caregivers who can support licensed and registered child care programs during staffing shortages or absences. Services must be provided at no cost to participating child care providers. Awardees will recruit and vet substitute caregivers, verify age, education, experience, references, medical, training, and comprehensive background-check requirements, maintain accurate availability and placement records, coordinate caregiver placements, monitor performance, and provide required reporting. Awardees must obtain and maintain an OCFS operating certificate, use designated OCFS systems and technology, operate at least eight hours per day Monday through Friday excluding holidays, and comply with applicable New York regulations. Up to four awards may be made statewide, with no more than one award per OCFS-defined region. Total anticipated funding is $12.5 million over five years, or approximately $625,000 annually per awardee, subject to appropriations.
