Description
The Springfield Water and Sewer Commission is soliciting bids for the replacement of two large butterfly isolation valves at the Cobble Mountain Hydroelectric Station Unit 3. The existing valves, original to the 1930s, are corroded, leak excessively, and have surpassed their design life. The project involves replacing the electric motor-operated Upper Isolation Valve and the hydraulically controlled Lower Isolation Valve, along with associated components, with modern custom-fabricated valves rated for a 50-year lifespan. The work must fit the existing footprint to avoid penstock modifications. An alternative bid option is included for replacing identical valves in Unit 1. The project budget is estimated not to exceed $2,500,000.
