Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is offering the Commercialization Readiness Pilot (CRP) program to support recipients of NIH SBIR or STTR Phase II awards. This program aims to provide later-stage research and development (R&D) and technical assistance to help bridge the gap between the initial award and full commercialization of biomedical products and technologies. The CRP program can fund R&D activities that require significant outsourcing, such as regulatory strategy, intellectual property strategy, manufacturing assistance, market research, independent replication of studies, and optimization of manufacturing methods. It also supports activities to bring development under Design and Quality Systems Control, and pre-clinical product development for devices, drugs, and biologics. While clinical studies and trials may be supported, certain NIH Institutes and Centers do not accept them under this specific funding opportunity. Applicants must have a prior active or ended NIH Phase II SBIR or STTR award. The Small Business Concern (SBC) must perform a substantial role in the oversight and management of the proposed work, which should be reflected in the budget. The program cannot cover filing fees or separate Technical and Business Assistance (TABA) funding.
