This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) supports grant applications focused on developing novel theories and methods to better understand how genetic and non-genetic factors influence the variation of complex human traits across individuals, families, and populations. The proposed approaches should be interdisciplinary, drawing from natural and social sciences, and must account for interdependencies across biological, social, and ecological organizational scales. Extensive use of theory, simulations, and validation with available large-scale datasets is expected. This grant is open to a variety of eligible applicants, including Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions, Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISISs), eligible agencies of the Federal Government, faith-based or community-based organizations, Hispanic-serving Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (Other than Federally Recognized), non-domestic entities, regional organizations, Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs), and U.S. territories or possessions.
