The Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP) is soliciting grant applications for the development, characterization, or improvement of research models for human health and diseases. This includes the development of biology-based new approach methodologies (NAMs) applicable to human health and diseases, and the improvement of access to information generated from the use of disease models. The developed models and related biological materials must have broad applicability to the scientific interests of at least two NIH Institutes or Centers (ICs) and address diseases and processes impacting multiple organ systems. Applications should highlight the need for and potential impact of the proposed resources on the broader research community across various scientific disciplines supported by multiple NIH ICs. Projects focused solely on a specific disease or a narrow research area, or those with limited impact on the overall NIH research community, will not be considered. Foreign organizations are not eligible to apply, and foreign components of U.S. organizations are also prohibited. This opportunity is a discretionary grant with an estimated total program funding of $5,000,000 and an expected number of 6 awards.
