Description
The Department of Defense, through the Defense Health Agency, is soliciting applications for the Fiscal Year 2026 Autism Research Program (ARP) Clinical Trial Award. This program aims to rapidly implement clinical trials that have the potential to significantly impact the treatment or management of autism. The trials can evaluate new products, pharmacologic agents, devices, clinical guidance, or emerging approaches and technologies, ranging from small proof-of-concept trials to large-scale efficacy studies. Key features of this award include a strong encouragement to address specific Areas of Interest for FY26 and an option for a Partnering Principal Investigator (PI) role for early-career investigators, offering higher funding levels for collaborations between experienced and early-career researchers. All submissions are required to include community collaborations to optimize research impact, with at least one community partner expected to be named to provide advice and consultation throughout the research process. The program expects to fund approximately one Clinical Trial Award with a total cost cap of $1.5 million and one Clinical Trial Award - Partnering PI Option for Early Career Investigator application with a total cost cap of $1.75 million. The maximum period of performance for these awards is 4 years. Applications are due by October 22, 2026.
