Biologic Drug Discovery and Development for Nervous System Disorders

Description
This opportunity supports the discovery and preclinical development of therapeutic biotechnology products and biologics, including large macromolecules, gene-based therapies, cell therapies, and microbiome therapies, for disorders of the nervous system. The program aims to support projects from lead optimization through Phase I clinical testing. Awardees will collaborate with NIH-funded consultants and may utilize NIH contract research organizations (CROs) for manufacturing, scaling, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, and Phase I clinical testing. The institutions will retain intellectual property rights for biotherapeutic candidates developed within this program. This funding opportunity is open to a wide range of eligible applicants, including various serving institutions, federal government agencies, faith-based or community-based organizations, tribal governments, non-U.S. entities, regional organizations, and for-profit organizations, including small businesses.
