Description
The Air Force is seeking innovative concepts for airlift efficiencies, specifically for a dual-use propulsion system for both military and commercial aircraft. The focus is on a turbofan engine with 35,000-50,000 lbs of thrust that can be used for the C-17 Globemaster, as well as blended wing body (BWB) technology. The engine must be compliant with emissions standards, capable of using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and have a production plan to meet demand by 2035-2037. The government is seeking unique and innovative development approaches. The solicitation is open until February 26, 2028, and the solution brief due date is March 13, 2025.
