This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) invites applications for exploratory and early-stage projects aimed at addressing undruggable target classes within intractable human diseases. The goal is to identify a relevant human disease target class and develop innovative methods or agents that selectively modulate these targets. This initiative seeks to advance therapeutic development for conditions that cannot be treated by established therapeutic types. Eligibility is extended to various organizations, including Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions, Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISISs), eligible agencies of the Federal Government, faith-based or community-based organizations, Hispanic-serving Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (Other than Federally Recognized), regional organizations, Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs), U.S. territories or possessions, and non-U.S. domestic entities. However, foreign organizations and foreign components of U.S. organizations are not eligible. The funding instrument is a grant, categorized under health, with specific Assistance Listings including Mental Health Research Grants, National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, Vision Research, Oral Diseases and Disorders Research, Allergy and Infectious Diseases Research, and Child Health and Human Development Extramural Research.
