Description
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM), is soliciting Research Project (R01) grant applications. These grants are intended to support the development of new animal drugs for minor uses in major species or for use in minor species (MUMS). The FDA aims to assist in defraying the costs of qualified safety and effectiveness testing required for FDA approval of MUMS-designated drugs. Eligibility is limited to entities developing drugs for veterinary use or their research partners. Applicants must have an open Investigational New Animal Drug (INAD) file with FDA/CVM and hold a minor use or minor species "designation" for the drug. The proposed study protocol must also be reviewed and concurred with by FDA/CVM's Office of New Animal Drug Evaluation (ONADE) before a grant application can be submitted. This opportunity is categorized as discretionary funding for consumer protection, agriculture, and food and nutrition. Eligible applicant types include various government entities, non-profits, for-profit organizations (including small businesses), and private and public institutions of higher education.
