Description
Northern Alberta Institute of Technology is seeking two new, commercially available Class 4 handheld fiber laser welding systems for instructional use in its Manufacturing Sciences Department. Each system must provide at least 2,000 watts of continuous laser power, weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum up to 8 mm thick, include or support a wire feeder, adjustable weld patterns, laser-cleaning capability, appropriate cooling, and integrated safety features such as interlocks, contact detection, key-switch operation, and emergency stop functionality. The equipment must meet applicable Canadian and Alberta requirements and include required accessories, cables, hoses, regulators, torches, work clamps, carts, and other components needed for operation. The scope also includes delivery to NAIT's Main Campus, installation, setup, testing, commissioning, acceptance demonstrations, operator training for at least eight NAIT personnel, online Laser Safety Officer training for five instructors, Class 4 laser safety training, documentation, warranty, Canadian technical support, replacement parts and consumables, maintenance information, and a laser safety package. Required deliverables include laser-rated helmets and eyewear, safety signage and documentation, manuals, training materials, warranty documentation, and initial consumables. Proponents must submit technical and compliance information, product literature, manufacturer authorization evidence, three similar-project references from the past five years, a completed Appendix D, a completed Appendix C fee schedule, and separate non-financial and financial submissions through the Euna Procurement portal.
