Description
The Department of the Air Force is soliciting innovative research for the Multi-Domain Force Applications and Traffic Management (M-FAT) initiative. This Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) focuses on enhancing Counter-small Unmanned Aerial System (C-sUAS) kill chain and point defense capabilities through advancements in Electronic Warfare (EW), Cyberspace Operations (CO), Command and Control (C2) Automation and Autonomy, Low-Collateral Defeat (LCD), and communications. Key research areas include developing cyberspace countermeasures to disrupt sUAS operations, improving system resiliency in contested environments, and advancing C2 automation for swarm attacks using AI/ML and sensor fusion. Research will also explore low-cost interceptors with integrated EW/CO capabilities, enhanced sensor technologies, and the advancement of UAS Traffic Management (UTM) systems for safe airspace integration. Communication systems will be improved through modeling, simulation, resilient waveforms, and AI-driven network optimization. The estimated total funding for this BAA is approximately $499 million, with individual awards typically ranging from $500,000 to $20 million over a period not exceeding 60 months, and a potential for awards up to $99 million.
