The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) is seeking grant applications for its Institutional Biomedical Undergraduate Research Training (BURT) program (T34). This program aims to strengthen research training environments and develop a pool of well-trained students who will complete their baccalaureate degrees in biomedical fields and transition into research-focused higher degree programs. The funding announcement supports eligible domestic organizations in developing and implementing evidence-informed approaches to biomedical undergraduate training and mentoring to build a strong national biomedical research workforce. Applicant organizations must enroll undergraduates and have received less than $50 million annually in NIH Research Project Grant (RPG) funding over the last three fiscal years. The program accepts applications in two tracks: Single Site, for a single baccalaureate-granting organization, and Community College Partnerships, which involves collaborations between at least one community college and at least one baccalaureate-granting organization. Proposed programs should include didactic, research, and career development elements. Foreign organizations are not eligible to apply.
