Description
The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre is seeking one part-time individual consultant to serve as Project Engineer for the Dominica Community Resilience Enhancement Project. The assignment covers technical leadership and oversight for detailed engineering designs, procurement, construction supervision, quality control, commissioning, and handover of upgrades to four multipurpose emergency shelters, including building-envelope retrofits, structural strengthening, accessibility improvements, drainage, water storage and rainwater-harvesting systems, and hybrid solar photovoltaic systems with battery storage. The consultant will also provide engineering support for climate-smart agricultural infrastructure and agro-processing facility upgrades, including irrigation, greenhouses or shade houses, water storage, and related civil works. Responsibilities include reviewing technical proposals and cost estimates, preparing or reviewing technical and procurement documents, monitoring progress, producing technical and site-inspection reports, supporting training and knowledge transfer, and ensuring compliance with applicable building codes, climate-resilience standards, environmental and social safeguards, and project reporting requirements. A bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering is required, along with relevant professional experience and demonstrated experience in resilient infrastructure design or retrofitting. The initial contract is 24 months, renewable based on satisfactory performance, with a six-month probation period.
