Description
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is seeking applications for its Outstanding Investigator Award (OIA). This award is designed to provide long-term support and increased flexibility to experienced Program Directors/Principal Investigators (PDs/PIs) who have a strong record of research in heart, lung, blood, and sleep (HLBS) disorders. The OIA aims to foster scientific productivity and innovation by supporting a research program, rather than specific projects, allowing investigators greater freedom to pursue ambitious and creative research. It is intended to be the primary source of NHLBI funding for awardees, reducing administrative burden and allowing more time for research and mentoring. This grant supports research within the scope of the NHLBI mission and is expected to accelerate scientific discovery by enabling flexibility in research directions. Eligible applicants include various institutions and organizations, with specific exclusions for non-domestic (non-U.S.) entities. The award can support clinical trials.
