Description
This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) from the Department of Health and Human Services encourages research into the development of therapeutic and diagnostic devices for disorders affecting the nervous or neuromuscular systems. The program supports activities such as the implementation of clinical prototype devices, non-clinical safety and efficacy testing, design verification and validation, obtaining Investigational Device Exemptions (IDE) for Significant Risk (SR) studies or Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval for Non-Significant Risk (NSR) studies, and conducting small clinical studies. These studies are intended to provide crucial information about device function or final design that cannot be obtained through non-clinical methods. This is a milestone-driven cooperative agreement program with NIH program staff involvement in project plan negotiation and research monitoring.
