The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) is offering the Dual Degree Dentist Scientist Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00) program. This initiative aims to cultivate a strong cohort of independently funded dentist scientists focused on advancing dental, oral, and craniofacial health. The program provides two years of mentored training and three to five years of independent research support to facilitate the transition of dual degree dentist scientists into independent, tenure-track faculty positions. Support for up to five years of independent research (R00 phase) is available, which can accommodate clinical training in a dental specialty program for no more than 3 person-months effort (25% full-time professional effort) per year. The award is intended for individuals pursuing research careers dedicated to improving oral and craniofacial health. Eligible applicants include federal government agencies, faith-based or community-based organizations, tribal governments, regional organizations, U.S. territories, and non-domestic components of U.S. organizations. Foreign components are permitted. The funding instrument is a grant, and the funding category is health, specifically related to Oral Diseases and Disorders Research (Assistance Listing 93.121).
