The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking applications for its HEAL Initiative PainCare Clinician Training Program (PCTP). This program aims to support mentored clinical scientist development awards, specifically the K08 mechanism, which does not allow for clinical trials. The primary goal is to foster a cohort of new, well-trained, and independent investigators by providing them with research support during their early career stages. This funding is intended to help awardees establish independent research programs focused on clinical research in pain management, as supported by the NIH HEAL Initiative. Eligibility for this program extends to a wide range of institutions and organizations, including Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions, Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISISs), eligible agencies of the Federal Government, Faith-based or Community-based Organizations, Hispanic-serving Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (other than Federally Recognized), Regional Organizations, Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs), and U.S. Territories or Possessions. However, non-domestic (non-U.S.) entities and non-domestic components of U.S. organizations are not eligible to apply. Foreign components, as defined in the NIH Grants Policy Statement, are permitted.
