NYSERDA is seeking to expand its pool of consultants, including community-based organizations, Indigenous Nations, and Indigenous-led Organizations, to provide support across multiple programmatic areas on an as-needed basis. This support may include advising on community barriers and needs, recommending policy changes, providing feedback on program design, facilitating workshops, and assisting with community outreach. DAC Consultants will be compensated at pre-established rates to ensure that New York State's historically marginalized communities are central to the development of NYSERDA initiatives, promoting equitable program design and energy policies. This initiative supports NYSERDA's Climate Equity Strategy and aims to advance clean energy and climate goals outlined in the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, with a target of directing 40% of clean energy benefits to disadvantaged communities. The pool will enhance NYSERDA's understanding of barriers faced by various disadvantaged communities and facilitate solutions developed in consultation with these communities and Indigenous Peoples. Engagements will involve distinct projects with clear timelines, ranging from short-notice requests to longer-term efforts. Eligibility requires applicants to be a New York State community-based organization (CBO), a State or federally recognized Indigenous Nation, or an Indigenous-led Organization. Applicants must demonstrate experience in areas such as energy equity, climate change, housing, or transportation, and show accountability to marginalized communities. Knowledgeable staff and the ability to deliver services on schedule and with flexibility are also required.
