The fiscal year 2026 (FY26) Arthritis Research Program (ATRP) Translational Research Award (TRA) supports high-impact translational research aimed at accelerating critical findings into clinically relevant solutions for all types of arthritis. This award mechanism is intended for hypothesis-driven, applied research relevant to Service Members, Veterans, their Families, and the American public, excluding basic research and clinical research or trials. Applicants must demonstrate the potential impact of their research in advancing arthritis understanding and patient care, with a particular emphasis on relevance to military health. Preliminary or published data is required to support the proposed research. The program encourages applications that leverage existing studies or large datasets and may benefit those within the Military Health System and the general population. Funding details include an estimated total program funding of $1.6 million, with approximately two awards expected. The maximum period of performance is 3 years, and the total cost cap per award is $800,000. Applications are a two-step process involving a pre-application submission via eBRAP and a full application submission via eBRAP or Grants.gov.
