The Biomedical Research Environment and Sponsored Programs Administration Development (BRE-SPAD) Program is designed to foster broad participation in the biomedical research ecosystem. It aims to support eligible domestic organizations with limited research resources and a small number of biomedical doctoral students. The program focuses on enhancing the research environment and increasing the capacity for sponsored programs administration. Eligible applicants include specific institutions such as Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions, Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISISs), Hispanic-serving Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs). Foreign organizations and foreign components of U.S. organizations are not eligible to apply. This program offers funding through cooperative agreements and supports categories such as health and education. It is intended for public and state institutions of higher education, non-profits (with or without 501c3 status), and private institutions of higher education.
