Shelby County School System is submitting its ESSER III ARP Full Application to the Alabama State Department of Education. The application outlines the use of $15,979,432 in American Rescue Plan (ARP) ESSER funds, plus $3,424,862 in ARP ESSER State Reserve funds, to address the impact of COVID-19 on students. The plan includes reserving at least 20% of funds for evidence-based interventions to address learning loss, such as summer learning programs, extended school year services, and in-school intervention teachers. Other uses include personnel (teachers, nurses, speech pathologists), technology (Chromebooks, software licenses), facility improvements (HVAC duct cleaning, touchless faucets), professional development, curriculum materials, and health services. The application also includes assurances and certifications required by the federal government.
