This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) invites applications for the Expanding Research in Alzheimer's Disease/Alzheimer's Disease Related Dementias (ERA) Summer Research Education Program (R25). The program aims to support the development and implementation of summer research education programs for high school students, undergraduates, and science teachers, with a particular focus on individuals from backgrounds underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral sciences. The goal is to expand the Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and Alzheimer's Disease Related Dementias (ADRD) research workforce by providing intensive summer research experiences in the AD/ADRD field, encouraging further study and participation in research. While participants cannot lead an independent clinical trial, they may gain research experience in a clinical trial under the guidance of a mentor. This grant opportunity is open to various eligible applicants, including faith-based or community-based organizations, private and public institutions of higher education, state and local governments, for-profit organizations, small businesses, and other Native American tribal organizations. Foreign organizations and foreign components of U.S. organizations are not eligible.
