This opportunity from the Department of Health and Human Services aims to identify genetic, genomic, and molecular (epi)genetic variants that underlie addictive behaviors, vulnerability to substance use disorders (SUDs), and related comorbidities. The program encourages innovative approaches, including multi-omics data integration, gene network delineation, and functional analysis of genetic or epigenetic variants. Research may focus on any type of genomic variant and is expected to uncover novel mechanisms and inform potential therapeutic strategies for addiction. Eligible applicants include a wide range of institutions and organizations, such as Native Serving Institutions, HBCUs, tribal governments, foreign entities, and for-profit and non-profit organizations. The funding instrument is a cooperative agreement, and the funding categories are health and education, specifically related to Drug Abuse and Addiction Research Programs.
