This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) encourages applications for cooperative agreements to support early-stage clinical trials of novel mechanism of action, investigational drugs, or novel neuromodulatory devices for the treatment of psychiatric disorders. The initiative aims to support milestone-driven trials in both pediatric and adult populations. Studies will assess target engagement, pharmacological effects, safety, and tolerability to determine feasibility for Phase II/proof of concept studies. The objective is to facilitate the collection of data to de-risk novel agents and devices, thereby attracting further funding for development as FDA-approved treatments. A key aspect is fostering collaboration between biomedical and industry researchers.
