This opportunity from the Department of Health and Human Services, part of the BRAIN Initiative, aims to fund the development and validation of novel tools for analyzing complex brain circuits and understanding cellular interactions. The focus is on tools that exhibit cell-type and/or circuit-level specificity, with a strong emphasis on validation plans. Applications are encouraged for new genetic and non-genetic methods for delivering genes, proteins, and chemicals to specific cell types or circuits with enhanced precision and sensitivity. Tools applicable across multiple species are highly desired, as are approaches that overcome existing technical barriers. Various organizations are eligible to apply, including but not limited to Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions, Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions, eligible agencies of the Federal Government, faith-based or community-based organizations, Hispanic-serving Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Indian/Native American Tribal Governments, non-U.S. Entities, regional organizations, Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities, and U.S. Territories. The funding instrument is a grant, supporting research in health, income security, and social services, and education.
