Description
This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) supports the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Predoctoral Fellowship (Parent F31). The award aims to provide promising predoctoral students with individualized, mentored research training from experienced faculty sponsors. This training will be conducted while students undertake dissertation research projects in health-related scientific fields aligned with the missions of participating NIH Institutes and Centers. The proposed research training must align with the candidates' dissertation research and is intended to significantly enhance their potential to become productive, independent research scientists. While this NOFO does not permit candidates to lead independent clinical trials, it does allow for proposing research experience within a clinical trial led by a sponsor or co-sponsor. Eligibility extends to other eligible applicants, including agencies of the Federal Government and non-U.S. entities (Foreign Organizations). The funding instrument is a grant, and funding categories include environment, food and nutrition, income security and social services, education, and health. Eligible applicant types encompass private institutions of higher education, for-profit organizations other than small businesses, nonprofits (both with and without 501c3 status), small businesses, public and state institutions of higher education, and others.
