Description
The Shared Instrument Grant (SIG) Program provides funding for groups of NIH-supported investigators to acquire or enhance a single, high-priced, specialized, commercially available instrument or an integrated instrumentation system. The minimum award for these grants is $50,000, with a maximum award of $750,000. While there is no upper limit on the instrument's price, the grant amount is capped. Eligible instruments include, but are not limited to, light microscopes, biomedical imagers, mass spectrometers, nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers, flow cytometers, DNA and protein sequencers, biosensors, and X-ray diffractometers. Eligibility is extended to various institutions, including Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions, Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISISs), Hispanic-serving Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs). Foreign organizations and foreign components of U.S. organizations are not eligible to apply. This program specifically excludes clinical trial support.
