Description
This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) seeks applications for investigator-initiated, high-risk, multi-center observational studies that involve more than one clinical center. The proposed studies should be hypothesis-driven and concentrate on a disease pertinent to the mission of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). Planning activities must be completed prior to submission and are not permitted under this NOFO. Applicants requiring a planning phase may first apply for an implementation planning cooperative agreement (U34). Consultation with NIDDK Scientific/Research staff is strongly encouraged prior to the submission of either a U34 or U01 application. Eligible applicants include various institutions such as Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions, Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISISs), Eligible Agencies of the Federal Government, Faith-based or Community-based Organizations, Hispanic-serving Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (Other than Federally Recognized), Regional Organizations, Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs), and Special District Governments. Non-domestic (non-U.S.) Entities (Foreign Organizations) and non-domestic (non-U.S.) components of U.S. Organizations are not eligible to apply.
