Description
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) is soliciting applications for research focused on the early-stage testing of pharmacologic or neuromodulatory device-based interventions for the treatment of mental disorders. This initiative supports an experimental therapeutics approach, aiming to evaluate the clinical effect of interventions while also generating data on the underlying mechanisms of disorders or intervention responses. The program specifically encourages research where the presumed mechanism of action is adequately tested, demonstrating a dose-dependent neurophysiological, clinical, or behavioral effect. This opportunity is open to various eligible applicants, including state governments, for-profit organizations, special district governments, county governments, independent school districts, city or township governments, public and Indian housing authorities, nonprofits (with or without 501c3 status), private and public institutions of higher education, federally recognized Native American tribal governments, other Native American tribal organizations, small businesses, and eligible agencies of the Federal Government. Assistance Listings include 93.242 for Mental Health Research Grants.
