Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is offering the Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01) to provide funding and protected time for a supervised career development experience. This program, lasting three to five years, is designed to foster research independence in the biomedical, behavioral, or clinical sciences. The K01 award is particularly useful for individuals transitioning into a new research field or those returning to research after a break. Various NIH Institutes and Centers utilize this mechanism to support these career development experiences. Eligibility extends to a wide range of institutions and organizations, including Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions, Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISISs), eligible agencies of the Federal Government, faith-based or community-based organizations, Hispanic-serving Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (Other than Federally Recognized), Regional Organizations, Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs), U.S. Territories or Possessions, and non-domestic (non-U.S.) components of U.S. Organizations. However, non-domestic (non-U.S.) Entities (Foreign Organizations) are not eligible to apply, nor are non-domestic (non-U.S.) components of U.S. Organizations. Foreign components, as defined by the NIH Grants Policy Statement, are permissible. This is a discretionary grant opportunity categorized under environment, income security and social services, food and nutrition, education, and health. Applicant types include county governments, public and state institutions of higher education, other organizations, small businesses, other Native American tribal organizations, independent school districts, federally recognized Native American tribal governments, state governments, special district governments, city or township governments, public and Indian housing authorities, nonprofits (with or without 501c3 status), private institutions of higher education, and for-profit organizations other than small businesses. Associated Assistance Listings include 93.310 (Trans-NIH Research Support), 93.113 (Environmental Health), 93.273 (Alcohol Research Programs), and others related to various health research areas.
