This opportunity supports the development of computational tools for understanding dynamic brain circuits, making them broadly accessible to the research community. The program focuses on building and disseminating tools related to theories of neural circuit mechanisms, models of circuit structure and function, and computational methods for analysis across scales from neurons to behavior. The development of these novel theories, models, and methods aims to characterize fundamental principles of brain function and organization, neural computations over time, and how brain circuit interactions enable flexible behaviors and contribute to brain-wide neural dynamics. These tools are intended to be critical for developing treatments for brain disorders such as Parkinson's disease and major depressive disorder. Eligibility extends to various entities including federal government agencies, faith-based or community-based organizations, non-domestic entities, and for-profit organizations, including small businesses.
