Description
The Stimulating Access to Research in Residency (StARR) program aims to provide resident clinicians with significant research experience early in their careers. The program's objective is to foster the development of clinician-investigators equipped with the necessary clinical and research expertise to conduct basic, clinical, and/or translational research. This initiative is designed to recruit, retain, and accelerate the independence of these future researchers. Eligibility for this grant is extended to various entities, including eligible agencies of the Federal Government, faith-based or community-based organizations, Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (other than Federally Recognized), regional organizations, U.S. territories or possessions, and non-domestic (non-U.S.) entities (foreign organizations) are not eligible to apply. Foreign components, as defined by the NIH Grants Policy Statement, are also prohibited. The funding instrument for this opportunity is a grant, falling under the 'discretionary' category and focusing on 'health' research. Eligible applicant types include a wide range of organizations such as nonprofits without 501(c)(3) status, federally recognized Native American tribal governments, county governments, independent school districts, city or township governments, special district governments, public and state institutions of higher education, small businesses, public and Indian housing authorities, private institutions of higher education, state governments, for-profit organizations other than small businesses, nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status, and other native American tribal organizations.
